JESS'S BOUDOIR EXPERIENCE
I loved working with Jess (37, Mother of two kids, Fitness Instructor). This is about her experience working with me.
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR OVERALL BOUDOIR EXPERIENCE WITH DIANA?
I recently had the opportunity to do a photo shoot with Diana Scheunemann, which is really an honor and a privilege. She’s not only a super talented photographer, but a real gem of a person.
I told her that traditional boudoir had never really “spoken” to me because it’s really not me at all. She was enthusiastic about breaking the mold of generic personal photography. We also shared a conversation about her time in high fashion, and the dark side of that industry and her exit from it. It’s not my story, so I won’t tell it. But her wealth of experience and expertise, and her latest passion for capturing raw, unedited beauty of human existence, makes for a truly inspiring experience in front of her lens.
If you know me, you know I hate being on the other side of a camera. I’m awkward. I don’t know how to pose, or smile, or look “pretty”. Diana didn’t try to make me. For her, it’s not about looking sexy, it’s about the inherent sensuality of people being authentically themselves. And she has a gift for creating a space where authenticity happens naturally.
It was much more fun, comfortable and EASY than I expected it to be. I expected to feel a little bit awkward and uncomfortable, but I never felt that at all. It felt natural and exciting!
PLEASE TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOURSELF
I am 37, married, and have two kids (son, 13 and daughter, 11). I have lived in San Marcos for 19 years, and have worked in wellness/fitness for 9 years.
WHAT OUTFITS DID YOU BRING?
Black tutu and "Don't Worry, Beyonce" cropped tank, black lace up boots
Red sequin booty shorts, vintage black leather biker jacket (belonged to grandfather)
Cropped white men's undershirt, black stiletto slouch boots
Cut-up band t-shirt, black fishnets, white fringed western-style boots
ARE YOU A MODEL?
I am not a professional model, and have only been professionally photographed once (a family portrait shoot).
WERE YOU NERVOUS BEFORE THE SHOOT?
I was a little bit nervous because I was unsure of what to expect. I knew Diana's level of experience and trusted her coaching and guidance, but was also aware of my lack of experience and wasn't sure if I would "do a good job". As soon as she picked up the camera though, I started to feel comfortable. There was no pressure, just relaxed fun and experimenting. She knew what to look for, and just invited me to try new things, without me having to think about or analyze any of them. The entire time, I felt like we were just "playing", but she was cleverly capturing all of it.

WHAT ADVICE DO YOU HAVE FOR OTHERS GETTING THEIR BOUDOIR PHOTOS TAKEN?
This is the kind of experience everyone should have! Relax, don't think about your face or your body or how it looks. Enjoy the moment, laugh, move, bond, just be free and let her work. Trust the process, and be amazed by the outcome.
WHAT WAS YOUR REASON FOR BOOKING A BOUDOIR SESSION WITH DIANA?
I wanted to experience being "coached" by a professional, because I have never felt comfortable in front of a camera before. I wasn't sure if I ever would. I got everything I hoped I would and more.
WAS THE YOU BY DIANA SESSION GUIDE HELPFUL?
The session guide helped me to know what to expect and why, so that I could plan accordingly. It gave me a jump-off point when I went into the pre-session call, so I knew what additional questions to ask.
WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE PART OF THE SESSION?
It was more fun than I would have imagined a photoshoot could be for me. I dislike having my picture taken, but the session felt like I was goofing off with a friend. It was so much fun!
